OVVL is a co-savings coordination platform operated by Transacting Machines Enterprises, a business registered in Kenya (Registration No. BN-L5CYR6KY), with its registered address at 5th Floor, 509 Cavendish, Beijing Road, Machakos Athi River District, Athi River, P.O. Box 0100, 00100 - G.P.O, Nairobi (“OVVL”, “we”, “us”). By joining our waiting list or using the OVVL WhatsApp assistant, you agree to these terms.
OVVL helps savings groups (chamas and harambees) organize and keep track of their contributions. In this initial release, OVVL is a coordination and record-keeping tool only:
A future version of OVVL may introduce an in-app pooled wallet that channels member contributions through OVVL directly. If and when that feature launches, we will update these terms to explain how it works before you are asked to use it.
Your group chooses its own treasurer, and that person — not OVVL — is responsible for safely holding and disbursing the funds contributed by group members. OVVL is not able to see, freeze, recover, or refund money once it has been sent to a treasurer. Choose someone you trust, and agree on how your group will handle disputes before you start contributing.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use OVVL. You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping access to your WhatsApp account secure, since that is how we identify you.
The OVVL WhatsApp assistant uses an AI model (Anthropic’s Claude) to understand and respond to your messages. Like any AI system, it can misunderstand a request or make a mistake. It does not provide financial, legal, or investment advice, and you should confirm important actions (like recording a large contribution) before relying on its response.
You agree not to use OVVL to:
OVVL is provided “as is” during this initial release, without warranties of any kind. Because OVVL does not hold or move member funds in this version of the product, we are not liable for losses arising from how a treasurer or group member handles contributions, disputes between group members, or the loss, theft, or misuse of funds outside of OVVL. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount (if any) you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
We may update these terms, or the OVVL service itself, as the product develops — including when new features like a pooled wallet are introduced. We will post the updated terms here with a new “last updated” date. You may stop using OVVL at any time by ending your conversation with the WhatsApp assistant; we may also suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
